Gov. Mark Dayton is traveling to Croatia this week to celebrate the 20th anniversary of a military partnership between Minnesota and the Balkan country. Since 1996, Minnesota and Croatia have jointly participated in more than 100 activities, according to the governor’s office. “Throughout this time, the Minnesota National Guard has provided one of its members to be part of the U.S. Office of Defense Cooperation located in Zagreb, Croatia,” the Guard said. The Croatia-Minnesota relationship is one of 70 State Partnership programs within states’ National Guard contingents. Dayton will spend four days in Croatia. He will leave Minnesota on Tuesday, fly to Amsterdam and arrive in Zagreb on Thursday. He will return on Sunday. Minnesota National Guard officials, including Adjutant Gen.
