Guam - The Joint Commission on accreditation has granted GMH full accreditation status for all services surveyed under their comprehensive accreditation manual for hospitals. A team of joint commission expert surveyors conducted a rigorous unannounced on site survey on April 19th to April 22nd of 2016. During the review they evaluated GMH's compliance with standards in emergency management, environment of care, infection control and leadership and medication management. They also conducted on site observation and interviews. The Governor told the hospital staff today that they are doing a wonderful job with GMH despite their limited resources. GMH Medical Director Dr. Larry Lizama described this accreditation as a symbol of quality that reflects GMH's commitment to provide safe and effective patient care. The accreditation was granted in April and is valid for up to 36 months. www.pacificnewscenter.com/local/10043
