Fired prosecutor pays $80K in restitution for drunken driving crashKALAMAZOO, MI – A fired Kalamazoo County assistant prosecutor who is due to report to jail in June for a drunken-driving crash that seriously injured her and another driver has paid $80,000 in restitution in the case, according to court documents. Paige Timmer paid the restitution in full April 6, five days after her attorney, Anastase Markou, and Van Buren County Prosecutor Mike Bedford filed a stipulation and order in Kalamazoo County Circuit Court that Timmer would pay the money to compensate Lenia Harris "for losses incurred as a result of a personal injury." In September, Kalamazoo County Circuit Judge Pamela L. Lightvoet ordered Timmer to spend two months in jail, but told the 27-year-old she didn't have to report for her sentence until June 16. Before that, Timmer and Markou are set to meet with Lightvoet and Bedford on May 6 for a hearing where Lightvoet will determine exactly what Timmer's sentence will be. At Timmer's sentencing hearing in September, Lightvoet said she believed jail time for Timmer was "probably appropriate given the circumstances of this case."
