The Oklahoma Senate on Thursday passed a bill to ask voters to amend the state Constitution to make it harder to regulate guns. Nearly three dozen organizations, including the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Oklahoma State Troopers Association, universities, chambers of commerce and hospitals had opposed the resolution and an open carry bill. House Joint Resolution 1009 passed, 39-7, and was sent to a conference committee and an uncertain future. Sen. David Holt, R-Oklahoma City, said the organizations are concerned that the proposal could put wide-ranging gun regulations in jeopardy, including provisions banning guns at private businesses, universities and Thunder games.
