Gov. Robert Bentley said Thursday he had “no problem” with the formation of an impeachment committee, saying it would clarify the process.
“They do need a way to look at this for everybody,” the governor said at a brief news conference Thursday. “It’s not me. They’re looking at it for everybody.”
But the governor — facing impeachment efforts in the House over allegations about his personal and professional relationship with a staffer — reiterated that he did not believe there were any grounds for his removal.
“There has never been any reason for impeachment,” he said. “Some of it is political grandstanding.”
