CONCORD – A bill allowing state residents to enter federal buildings or fly on airplanes after Jan. 1, 2018 without showing a passport is on its way to the governor. The House Wednesday agreed to changes the Senate made in House Bill 1616 after the Senate approved the bill 18-4 last week. Opponents called it a backdoor attempt at a national identification card allowing the government to collect personal information on its citizens. New Hampshire is one of a handful of states in danger of losing its Real ID waiver because it allows citizens to remove their Social Security numbers, copies of their birth certificates and license pictures from the Division of Motor Vehicles database.
