Paul Ryan challenger Paul Nehlen endorsed by a tea party groupThe man challenging House Speaker Paul Ryan for his congressional seat has gotten a boost from a well-known tea party group. Paul Nehlen, a Delavan businessman, announced Tuesday that he had received the endorsement of the Tea Party Patriots, a group that says it's focused on personal and economic freedom and a debt-free future. "It is an honor and a privilege to have received the endorsement of the Tea Party Patriots," Nehlen said in a statement. "I'm incredibly humbled that the organization has chosen to place its confidence in this campaign. I'm even more humbled to know that the leadership of the Tea Party Patriots put my candidacy before the organization’s membership before making the decision to endorse me." Nehlen, who describes himself as a former Ryan supporter, is now challenging the Janesville Republican in the GOP primary. He says Ryan had betrayed his southeastern Wisconsin district, specifically citing concerns about Ryan's support for the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal.
