Oakland: Roughly 1200 people demand social justice at May Day marchOAKLAND - About 1,200 men, woman and children marched peacefully through Oakland Sunday afternoon in a regional International Worker's Day march for worker's rights, a spokesman for the march said. People from at least 20 groups came together as the Oakland Sin Fronteras Coalition and met in Fruitvale Plaza at noon to hear speakers talk about worker's rights, an end to the deportation of immigrants and an end to police violence toward people of color. The march started at 1 p.m. at Fruitvale Plaza and lasted about 90 minutes. It concluded at San Antonio Park, march spokesman Omar Ali said. Ali identified himself as a member of the Oakland Sin Fronteras Coalition and the Arab Resource & Organizing Center, which is a member of the Oakland Sin Fronteras Coalition.
