Salary hikes, more police but no tax cut in $1.4B Anne Arundel budgetIf the theme of Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Schuh's budget last year was change, this year it's continuity. Schuh's $1.4 billion spending plan, which he presented to the County Council Monday, includes no new tax cuts but continues to send money toward school construction, expanding public safety personnel and improving the county's waterways — goals that the county executive laid out in 2015, during his first budget season. “Last year, we set out an agenda for our county,” Schuh said. “I'm pleased to say that a year and a half later we're succeeding. The policies are in place. It's now all about implementation.” This year’s budget is the first without a structural deficit since 2008.
