SUFFOLK - A veteran letter carrier lied to his bosses five years ago, telling them he hurt his shoulder on the job when he was actually injured off the clock. But it wasn’t enough for Ronald Henderson to seek more than $64,000 in fraudulent disability pay and medical treatment reimbursements, according to court documents. He also sought and received more than $93,000 in false travel reimbursements. In one day alone, he falsely claimed to have driven 1,336 miles. “The travel claims he submitted were outrageous on their face,” Assistant U.S. Attorney Randy Stoker wrote in court documents. He noted that at an average speed of 55 miles per hour it would take more than 24 hours to drive that many miles.
