RICHMOND — Health care, social services and government workers gathered Monday to figure out how Virginians can live longer, healthier lives in their communities. Discussions of how to improve transportation networks and inadequate housing, and protect the elderly from scammers and abusers, headlined the inaugural Governor’s Conference on Aging. Participants plan on Tuesday to draw from the day’s workshops and brainstorm ideas that can be fashioned into policies. Jim Rothrock, commissioner of the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services, said the recommendations will be shared with Gov. Terry McAulliffe and followed up on at another conference before his term ends.
