A Jefferson County district judge this week ordered two former high-ranking officials at Beaumont ISD convicted of embezzling millions of dollars from the school district to pay the money back. Devin McCraney, BISD's former chief financial officer, and Sharika Allison, the district's former comptroller, have to pay $4,041,705.25 back to BISD. In addition to roughly $4 million in restitution from their criminal case, McCraney and Allison each owe another $4 million in punitive damages and more than $93,000 in interest. The money includes punitive damages and post-judgment interest, according the final judgment signed Thursday by Judge Milton G. Shuffield.
