SARASOTA — David Sutton, the director of social services of Sarasota's Salvation Army, was arrested Monday and charged with financial crimes unrelated to his position at the faith-based charity. Sutton, 63, was charged with selling unregistered securities, selling securities without a dealer registration and securities fraud. Attempts by the Herald-Tribune to contact him were not successful. “It's a personal matter for him that's separate from the Salvation Army,” said Major Ethan Frizzell, Sarasota Salvation Army commander. “We'll be reviewing it this week, as we just became aware of it ourselves, in order to determine any reaction.” Read more: www.heraldtribune.com/article/20160509/ARTICLE/160509626/2416/NEWS?Title=Sarasota-Salvation-Army-official-is-arrested
