JACKSON (AP) – Gov. Phil Bryant has signed into law a bill allowing people to carry open containers of alcohol in entertainment districts. A spokesman for Bryant’s office says the governor signed House Bill 1223 on Wednesday. It allows cities with downtown entertainment districts to set boundaries within which people would be allowed to carry open containers of alcohol. The law, also known as the “to-go cup” law, takes effect July 1. Any incorporated city, town or village in Jackson, Harrison and Hancock counties is allowed to set up such a district. Other cities that could establish “to-go cup” zones include: • Hattiesburg • Tupelo • Holly Springs • Greenville • Greenwood • Canton • Grenada • Starkville • Water Valley • Jackson • Senatobia • Corinth djournal.com/news/gov-bryant-signs-go-cup-law/
