The City of Hattiesburg owes Precision Construction nearly $1 million, and an attorney for the company wants the city to pay up. In a May 17 ruling by the state Court of Appeals, the city was determined at fault in a breach of contract issue with Precision. The city was ordered to pay around $857,000 and arbitration fees of more than $7,000, plus court costs and 8 percent interest per day until the judgment is paid. "The time for filing any motions for reconsideration has now passed and the judgment of the Court of Appeals is final," attorney Mark Herbert said. The letter states as of June 3, the city owes Precision Construction $972,601.91 "according to our calculations." An estimated interest rate of $190.37 per day will be added to that total until the judgment is paid.
