LANSING — If blaze orange clashes with your complexion, the color choices for fashionable hunters could be about to expand. The state House of Representatives passed a bill Thursday that would expand Michigan’s law, which requires hunters to wear blaze orange coats, vests or hats to ensure safety during the wildly popular hunting seasons in the state, to include "hunter pink." State Rep. Lisa Lyons, R-Alto, said her goal is to continue to see increases in the number of people who are hunting in Michigan and “giving people more freedom to choose their hunting apparel that’s safe and effective.” Women are the fastest growing population of hunters in the state, Lyons said, and Michigan would follow the lead of Colorado and Wisconsin, who have added “hunter pink,” which would be a bright, fluorescent hue, to the blaze orange used by hunters now.
