A Louisville Metro Police officer is in stable condition after he was shot late Saturday night in the Russell neighborhood after a foot chase with a Louisville man, police said. Chief Steve Conrad said Officer Kyle Carroll was patrolling on his normal beat just after 11 p.m. when he saw a man whom he recognized from a past arrest near 23rd and Magazine streets. The man turned from the officer when he drove by, which Conrad said the officer interpreted as an attempt to hide his identity. "That caused the officer to be concerned," Conrad said to media at an early Sunday morning news conference outside the University of Louisville Hospital, noting his information was preliminary.
