Gov. Alejandro García Padilla participated Thursday in a Washington, D.C. forum titled “Puerto Rico in Crisis: Will Congress Provide Relief?” organized by the Center for American Progress Action Fund (CAP), where he insisted that the U.S. Senate approve the Puerto Rico Oversight Management and Economic Stability Act (PROMESA). The governor reiterated during the forum that if the federal government does not give Puerto Rico the necessary tools to address its fiscal crisis, the government will find itself impeded in providing essential services to the public. García Padilla insisted that his administration has taken all the measures that the commonwealth government has at its disposal to confront the island’s grave economic situation, including its obligations on approximately $70 million in debt, according to Inter News Service.
