With a minimum of sarcasm, I can say that we expect political ads to lie and so there's no such thing as "truth in political advertising." It's all hyperbole and puffing.
It's fine to lie, when truth is often so nebulous and spinnable. But getting caught on a whopper can be embarrassing. Amounts to handing your critics rope to hang you with.
