SPOKANE, Wash. - The Spokane City Council will take up a paid sick and safe leave ordinance Monday night. The proposal has been more than a year in the works. The council had originally discussed the idea in April but tabled it in August to give councilors more time to learn about the idea. Now, the council has put an ordinance together and will vote on it. The ordinance requires businesses within the city limits to implement a policy. Employees would accrue one hour for every thirty they worked, an annual cap of twenty four hours, and hours would be allowed to be carried over.
