Failed Senate Candidate Says Staffer's Lawsuit Cost Him Wall Street Job
A failed candidate for U.S. Senate is claiming a former staffer’s sexual harassment lawsuit cost him his six-figure job on Wall Street.
August Wolf, a political newcomer and businessman from Stamford who sought the Republican Party’s nomination to run against Richard Blumenthal, filed a countersuit against political consultant Samantha Menh last week.
Wolf said he was forced to resign on June 14 from his job as a managing director at Lebenthal Asset Management when Menh’s allegations against him became public. The company told Wolf “he posed a reputational risk to the firm and requested that he voluntarily resign,” according to court documents.
In the countersuit, Wolf said he was earning an average of $600,000 a year at Lebenthal. He’s seeking more than $14 million in damages. He said Menh's sexual harassment lawsuit was filed “maliciously” and “frivolous{ly}.” He also accused her of slander and misrepresenting herself when interviewing for the campaign job.
