It seems $139,339 and a 24,000-square-foot mega mansion is not enough to keep someone in the state’s top executive seat happy. House Bill 202, sponsored by state representative Jay Powell, seeks to grant the office a 25% pay increase, bringing the salary to $175,000 per year, plus a driver, private security, and travel. Governor Deal is not eligible to benefit from the pay increase, should it pass, because the raise would not go into effect until January 1, 2019.
