DANBURY - Police have charged a local man with terrorism, saying he threatened to shoot up the police station.
The charge was levied Wednesday against Gary Mayone, 51, after he vowed to “get an assault rifle and shoot up the Danbury Police Department,” police said.
Mayone had been arrested while police were investigating a noise complaint at Samuels Court, where arriving officers heard “loud bangs” coming from his apartment. While officers were walking him to the police cruiser, he tried to headbutt one officer and struggled with several others, police said.
Mayone was being processed at the police station on a charge of creating a public disturbance when he made the further threat and was charged with terrorism, police said. He later kicked an officer while being evaluated at Danbury Hospital.
