So tempting to speculate that a reason for the meeting was the future of the Democratic Party if Hillary Clinton sinks beneath the waves.
She is not Donnie Trump who thinks he can shoot a little old lady and remain unscathed. For her, an indictment will be calamitous and a refusal to request indictment by the Justice Dept would put her campaign under a cloud. Surely that is very much on Obama's mind right now.
Did Obama and Sanders expressly talk about that? Was Obama asking for Sanders' opinion about what to do? Or was Obama giving Sanders a one-on-one heads up about a decision already made? As leader of the Party Obama might consider that his duty.

Or did Obama ask Bernie to appoint him as a Supreme Court justice after he leaves office? Then again maybe Obama asked Bernie whether Preparation H or Tucks medicated pads are better if he feels the burn? The possibilities are endless! Note to self: consider creating a creative speculation/conspiracy theories sub-board.

Mr. Run -- Logan -- if I may digress: imvho a forum works best when a critical mass of participants post thoughtfully and freely. That means there will be digressions and arguments, sometimes vehement arguments. (I've been on boards where there were physical threats, some involving me.) There will be and should be free association, so that one discussion mutates into another. Strict compartmentalization and control limits free thought and development. That is life, in a biological as well as a practical sense. The worst threat to a discussion forum is apathy and lack of participation; that "critical mass" is not the raw number of visitors or members but those willing to take a chance and go out on a limb on some subject. Some of my forum experiences have been the most enjoyable social interactions I've ever had, just like sitting at a table with one's peeps and free associating into the night. So I respectfully request that you not confine speculation to a subforum.
Back to the thread, more or less. This is an election year when the Republicans are going in totally weird directions, a year when the nation's best-known Democrat seemed a shoo-in for nomination and for a win in November. But there are dark clouds on the horizon, and for Democrats more than Republicans, most eggs are in one basket.

This is an election year when the Republicans are going in totally weird directions, a year when the nation's best-known Democrat seemed a shoo-in for nomination and for a win in November. But there are dark clouds on the horizon, and for Democrats more than Republicans, most eggs are in one basket. Pardon me, but that remark about CS/CT was a bit of sarcasm coming from me. I don't have any intention of changing the categories here in the near future. I agree that the best forums allow for the expression of opinions and facts by a large audience representing a diverse membership. It can be difficult for people to be willing to step out on a limb and provide commentaries to stories, but I'm hoping that this forum will eventually grow so that more comments are received and we can learn from each other. As the discussions grow it should also increase the social interaction and camaraderie among the members. While there might be disagreement about the primary candidates and social issues from the members here, I think those comments can be made without tearing down the candidates or with a litany of personal attacks among the members. I realize that everyone will have their preferred candidate in the primaries, but when it comes to the general election then I do expect everyone to be on board with whoever the Democratic Party nominates. FWIW, many of the people that joined came from other forums where the environment was toxic and where brinkmanship was prevalent. I reduced my involvement from one of those forums because the members were behaving like children and the primary battles escalated the tension to the point that I was uncomfortable there. The administrators of that forum were concerned about the number of clicks and the ad revenue more than doing what was correct and making a minimal effort to moderate the forum. As far as the expected behavior of members on this forum is concerned, if it comes to the point that any member is being rude then I do intend to step in to curtail that activity. I definitely have a low tolerance for members making threats and taunting--anyone that engages in that type of interaction should shop around for a forum where that is permitted because I doubt that they will feel at home here. My intention when I created this forum was to provide a less combative atmosphere to discuss politics, news and social issues with the occasional quirky post about something humorous or offbeat. I do not derive any financial gain from this forum. I undertook this project because of my passion for politics and news events. Aggregating information from the various states into one forum also serves some value to let the members know the political headwinds developing countrywide. This forum does require a substantial amount of work, but as long as some people check in to read the content then it is as valuable to me as the number of active participants. However, that doesn't mean that I don't appreciate your commentary on the threads that are posted here though. I want for us to engage each other in discussion rather than find another battleground for people to bicker over and declare it as an encampment for either Bernie or Hillary.
