Tecumseh police officer critically shot overnight after traffic stop, exchange of gunfireTECUMSEH -- A police officer was shot and hospitalized in critical condition after a traffic stop and exchange of gunfire in Pottawatomie County overnight, according to reports. A news conference will be at OU Medical Center at 8 a.m. in the emergency room parking lot, according to a Tecumseh police Facebook post Monday morning. Tecumseh police report about 11:30 p.m. the officer made a traffic stop at Benson Park and Gordon Cooper. A suspect ran away and a foot pursuit followed. The officer tried to use a Taser on the suspect with no effect. The suspect then shot at the officer and the officer returned fire, Tecumseh police report. Both the officer and suspect were taken to a hospital. The officer is in critical condition Monday morning, police reported.
