Couple ordered to pay $41,300 each in fines for Pontiac pharmacy schemeA Pontiac pharmacist and pharmacy owner were ordered to pay more than $41,300 each in fines but avoided jail time when they were sentenced in federal court last month after pleading guilty for their roles in a medication misbranding scheme. Pharmacist Neena Gupta and her husband, Jatinder Sandhu, owned Dell’s Prescription Center, 219 Baldwin Ave. in Pontiac. It closed in 2014. In addition to the fines, U.S. District Judge Arthur Tarnow sentenced them to three years of probation. During a hearing before Tarnow last year, the couple both pleaded guilty to misbranding prescription drugs. Sandhu, the primary pharmacy owner, pleaded to a felony misbranding charge and Gupta pleaded to a misdemeanor.
