With the presidential race behind him, Beto O'Rourke is turning his focus to supporting Democratic candidates in Texas.
O'Rourke, who ended his presidential bid in November, on Friday announced a new group aimed at Texas elections in 2020. The former El Paso congressman in a Friday email to supporters said he's starting the grassroots organization, called Powered by People.
"This is what I'm focused on," O'Rourke said in an interview with the El Paso Times. "I'm focused on supporting great candidates all over the state, and I'm focused on bringing people all across Texas together to get behind these candidates. And that's gonna be my public service this year. I'm really looking forward to doing it."
O'Rourke has been chiming in on efforts to flip the Texas House of Representatives since leaving the presidential race.
