There’s a turf fight underway at the highest levels of the state’s judiciary. The judges at the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals are upset with their colleagues on the Oklahoma Supreme Court. The judges are complaining the Supreme Court justices are interjecting themselves into criminal matters. The judges are complaining the justices need to mind their own business — civil matters. “This might be a matter, in my opinion, where the Legislature should become involved and reaffirm this Court’s exclusive appellate jurisdiction in criminal matters,” Judge David B. Lewis of the Court of Criminal Appeals wrote last month.
