In eleventh-hour filing, 12 employees defend Dallas DA Susan Hawk, oppose her removal
Lawyers for Dallas County District Attorney Susan Hawk shot back Thursday in the legal battle over whether she should remain in office, filing a scathing motion that calls the attempt to oust her “contemptible” and includes affidavits from 12 employees who oppose her removal.
The eleventh-hour filing came the afternoon before a judge is scheduled to consider whether the lawsuit should be allowed to move forward.
Judge David Peeples of San Antonio, who was appointed to handle the case, will hold a hearing at 10 a.m. Friday.
He could decide to let the suit move toward a jury trial or kill it altogether. His decision is not appealable.
