Two Palestinian men who were born in Iraq and came to the U.S. as refugees were arrested Thursday - one in Houston and another in Sacramento, Calif. - as part of federal investigations into alleged terrorist plans, authorities said Thursday. Federal officials did not directly link the two cases, but the indictments were both unsealed Thursday and both men are scheduled to appear in courts Friday. The Houston man was identified as Omar Faraj Saeed Al Hardan, 24. He was charged with three counts - attempting to provide material support to ISIS, unlawfully procuring citizenship or naturalization and making false statements. The Sacramento resident, charged with making a false statement involving international terrorism, was identified as Aws Mohammed Younis Al-Jayab, 23. He allegedly "traveled overseas to fight alongside terrorist organizations and lied to U.S. authorities about his activities," said Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin in a statement. Continued at www.chron.com/news/houston-texas/article/Alleged-terror-threat-busted-in-Houston-6743906.php
