A lawsuit brought by an elementary school teacher who contends Beaumont ISD retaliated against her because she was a "whistleblower" will not go to trial next month. The Ninth Court of Appeals ordered a stay Thursday in the case against the district filed by Shaunte Guillory, who was granted a request in December for a temporary restraining order preventing her firing until her trial, previously scheduled for Feb. 16. Earlier this week BISD appealed a decision by District Judge Gary Sanderson to go forward with the case, contending he disregarded BISD's challenge to jurisdiction, according to the district's brief. The appeals court halted all proceedings until its justices issue a judgment, according to Thursday's filing.
