Meanwhile, the Oklahoma Democratic Party called for an immediate audit of every state agency whose funding is overseen by the executive branch.
“State agencies receive an audit on a rotating basis, but that rotation means that many executive offices don’t receive audit but once every few years. Since no one seems to know what’s going on, we feel that these are extenuating circumstances and a complete audit should be performed of all offices,” said party spokeswoman Sarah Baker.
Baker also said current leadership of the state’s budget “makes it nearly impossible” for local schools to balance their budgets or plan for the next year.
“Governor (Mary) Fallin, (State Treasurer) Ken Miller, and (Secretary of Finance and Revenue) Preston Doerflinger continue to show the people of Oklahoma just exactly how incompetent they are and unable to do their job,” she said. “Revenue shortfalls, budget failures, tax cuts, and now lost money are just further examples that the executive branch has no idea what they are doing.”
