Texan who says Obama was a gay prostitute holds commanding lead in Board of Education vote
A former teacher who believes President Obama used to work as a gay prostitute seems well on her way to joining the Texas State Board of Education. Mary Lou Bruner, a Republican candidate for the State Board of Education, has some unusual beliefs that have in no way inhibited her run. The District 9 candidate in the GOP primary has earned 48 percent of the vote in a three-person race. Despite a commanding lead, she fell just short of the 50 percent threshold necessary to avoid a runoff in May. The winner will help set education standards for a large portion of East Texas. Bruner’s most frequently reported-on belief – that Obama “hasn’t come out of the closet about his own homosexual/bisexual background” – appeared in a Facebook post she wrote on Oct. 26, 2015. She stated that “Obama has a soft spot for homosexuals because of the years spent as a male prostitute in his twenties.” However, this might not even be Bruner’s most outrageous conviction. Bruner, who says she has a masters of education and spent 36 years teaching in public schools before retiring in 2009, has written several Facebook posts that seem at odds with the idea of education. New one on me. Is there anything Obama hasn't been accused of? Some even call him -- but we'd better not go there. Like me and others, Obama came late to the idea of same sex marriage. He didn't take office with that on his mind. Lemme wax personal for a sec. Back in late 2006 I read a speech delivered by a young senator at a mega church in California. Here is that speech. obamaspeeches.com/095-Race-Against-Time-World-AIDS-Day-Speech-Obama-Speech.htm Here was a liberal Christian who I felt could build bridges with the Christian Right and break their connection with the GOP; here was the Moses who could unify the country. Or so I naively thought. Turned out to be quite a different story. But the Obamas have been among the more religious of presidential families, and one imagines that they, like many Americans, did not look on same sex marriage favorably until they considered the issue of equal treatment under law, that to deny the right of civil marriage because of gender preference is tyranny. Has any president since Lincoln been so hated? To attempt to demonize the president is most un-Christian, but a practice mostly of those who label themselves as Christian.
