www.politico.com/story/2016/01/poll-hillary-clinton-trump-bernie-sanders-217963The headline says "Poll: Clinton has a better shot at beating Trump than Sanders." False and misleading, because this is a poll of Democratic and Democratic-leaning voters only, not the general pool of voters, and the poll basically asks their opinion of who has the better chance of beating Trump, not who they would vote for in a match-up of Clinton versus Trump or Sanders versus Trump. That's the problem with this poll. It merely asks those who will almost certainly vote Democratic regardless of nominee what they think about which Democrat is better against a named Republican. The real question is how non-Democrats and marginal Republicans will vote and this poll tells us nothing. They need to poll Independents, wavering Democrats, and uncommitted Republicans in order to have any idea about matchups. Caveat poll-reader.

I don't put a lot of weight into polls these days. There are so many variables ranging from methodology, the way questions are phrased and overall cooperation. I remember one poll that showed that Mr. Conservative was in shape to challenge Randy Neugebauer after all.

Yes, the wording is everything... as is the consistency of the wording from poll to poll over the years...
