If you run an NFL team, how smart must your quarterback be? Height, big arm, quick feet, strength, work ethic, leadership abilities — these are givens on any team’s wish list. With the draft closing in fast, all of them are evaluating what they have, what they wish they had and what they realistically can expect to have. And no position is more important than quarterback. Intelligence, ideally some combination of street smarts, I.Q. and book learning, has to count, right? Certainly teams will evaluate more than Wonderlic scores in assessing whether to hand the keys to, let’s say, a dolt. It happens, but you’d much rather it happened to your division rival. This brings us, in a roundabout way, to the former Johnny Football, now just Johnny Manziel, currently unemployed quarterback. If you only casually follow the pro game, that might surprise you. Manziel is quite famous and certainly isn’t acting like a young man in need of a job. You may have seen his most recent pro bono work at TMZ and other gossip sites.
