A fired Oklahoma City police officer convicted last month of on-duty rapes is requesting a new trial, claiming he "was denied a fair trial." The former officer, Daniel Ken Holtzclaw, is set to be sentenced Thursday in Oklahoma County District Court. After a six-week trial, a jury found Holtzclaw guilty of 18 sexual offenses, including four counts of first-degree rape, involving eight victims. The request, filed Wednesday by attorney Scott Adams, seeks either a new trial or "an evidentiary hearing to determine whether discovery was withheld from the defense." In the request, Adams notes a Facebook post made by a police detective who assisted in the Holtzclaw investigation. Adams contends the detective makes "statements revealing that there is evidence that was withheld from the defense by the government."
