A federal grand jury yesterday indicted the owners of the Guam Medical Transport on a slew of charges related to fraudulent claims submitted by the company to Medicare and TriCare. The development comes a month after two high-level GMT employees were indicted and signed plea agreements in the case. This also comes a week after the U.S. government filed papers to seize a $550,000 condominium it claims was purchased with money from the alleged fraudulent claims. On Jan. 5, two GMT employees, after securing separate plea agreements, pleaded guilty to submitting claims to Medicare and TriCare for non-emergency ambulance transportation services allegedly at the behest of the company’s owners. U.S. Attorney Alicia Limtiaco announced in a media release that three executive level co-conspirators, namely Clifford P. “Cliff” Shoemake, Kimberly C. “Casey” Conner, and Nicholas A. “Nick” Shoemake were indicted by a grand jury yesterday for their involvement in the alleged conspiracy.
