Guam public schools could potentially see an estimated $2 million increase in federal grants, bringing the funding to $27 million for school year 2017-2018, Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez said Wednesday. Fernandez just came back from Washington, D.C. where he met with U.S. Department of Education officials led by Lisa Ramirez, the acting director overseeing the Guam program. The estimated $2 million increase will be confirmed in a couple of weeks, he said. “Additional funds would, of course, be helpful for supporting our classrooms and teachers.
