Former Food Network star bringing steakhouse concept to DuluthWillie Degel is a former Food Network star and a restaurateur in New York City, but he’s about to become one of the newest restaurant owners in Gwinnett County. Degel, who hosted “Restaurant Stakeout” on Food Network for three years, is planning to open Uncle Jack’s Meat House next to the Infinite Energy Arena next month. It will be the first restaurant in his Uncle Jack’s chain that he’s opened outside of New York City, and he hopes it will lead to big things for him in the Atlanta area. “I figure in Atlanta, I can have at least six to 10 restaurants down there probably over the next five to seven years,” he said. “You have a lot more outdoor-indoor eating, people love to go out to eat. I’m building more affordable-style restaurants than just the high-end Uncle Jack’s.” The celebrity chef said he’s planning to do a soft opening of the restaurant, which will be at the corner of Sugarloaf Parkway and Meadow Church Road, sometime in either the second of third weeks of July.
