LEXINGTON -- Authorities have charged a Kentucky man in connection with a federal investigation into the explosion of a trail camera that injured another man. The Lexington Herald-Leader reported that 39-year-old Mark Sawaf was charged in a criminal complaint with possession of an unregistered firearm and making an illegal firearm. Two trail cameras were found on a private trail in Harlan County earlier this year. The documents didn't specify what the cameras were used for. The records say one of the cameras detonated when a man tried to install batteries in it, causing injuries to his chest and hand. Investigators from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives later found another explosive device in a second trail camera.
