Formal charges of bribery and sexual battery were filed against Carter County Sheriff Milton Anthony on Wednesday, showing two female employees made claims against him. When an investigation was launched by Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation in May, at the request of Carter County District Attorney Craig Ladd, Anthony was initially being investigated for accusations of an illegal relationship with an employee. However, an OSBI special agent also spoke to a female deputy at the sheriff’s office, who made a claim against the sheriff. The two incidents resulted in Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt filing charges of bribery and sexual battery Wednesday in Carter County District Court. Special Agent David Gatlin, who was assigned the case, spoke to a female deputy just days after speaking to the employee involved in a sexual relationship with the sheriff, according to an affidavit filed with the charges. On May 31, the female deputy told Gatlin about an incident in March, prior to a CCSO deputy meeting, during which she said Anthony touched her breast.
