NYPD officers jump into stormy Hudson to save naked man in waterA 24-year-old man found naked in the Hudson River during a rainstorm late Friday night is now recovering in stable condition, thanks to the efforts of officers who jumped in and managed to pull him to safety. Police responded to a 911 call reporting a distressed man was in the river just after 10 p.m., near West 132 and Marginal Streets. There, first responders saw a man about 60 feet from the pier in “extreme distress,” according to a police statement. Despite the strong rainstorm, Det. Jason Curley removed his boots and swam to the man, who by that point was unconscious and sinking under the water. Curley was able to secure the victim with a pylon while two others—Off. Jason Ramierz and Sgt. Thomas Liso—jumped in the water to help the two back to shore. The three men were assisted at the pier by Det. Martin Duffy, who retrieved a rope ladder to help the men ashore.
