John Philip Sousa IV Of Farmington Works To Promote His Great-Grandfather's Legacy
FARMINGTON — The world knows him as "The March King." To John Philip Sousa IV, he's "great-grandfather."
Although the legendary bandmaster's name ends with him, Sousa IV, 69, is working to ensure his great-grandfather's legacy isn't lost to history.
Sousa IV, a financial consultant, has lived in Farmington for 16 years — the same amount of time he has dedicated to educating people about one of the best known composers and conductors of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Sousa IV said it's safe to say that almost everyone knows Sousa — whom he calls "America's first rock star" — but not everyone is aware that they know Sousa.
