Attorney General Andy Beshear will file a new lawsuit challenging Gov. Matt Bevin's overhaul of the University of Louisville Board of Trustees, separating it from a similar case over the governor's pension board changes. During a hearing Friday, Franklin Circuit Judge Phillip Shepherd and various attorneys discussed how to proceed in the lawsuit over the Kentucky Retirement Systems Board of Trustees, which is responsible for overseeing assets totaling around $16 billion. Bevin reorganized it last month. Beshear recently filed a motion to intervene in that lawsuit. He is challenging the governor's changes to the pension and U of L boards. Both sides agreed on splitting the litigation over those reorganizations into separate claims, which are likely to proceed on similar schedules.
