Secretary of State Jon Husted has lost more big cases than he's wonCOLUMBUS, Ohio – As the state's chief elections official, Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted has been in court a lot. And when it comes to big voting rights cases, he's lost more than he's won. Since 2012, his office has been involved in nine big cases addressing the rights of voters and access to the polls. Changes to state laws – such as one (recently blocked by the courts) to shorten absentee voting and eliminate Golden Week -- are made in the General Assembly. Legislators have immunity for those actions. But the secretary of state is charged with carrying out those laws and defending them, once they're signed by the governor.
