'Full speed ahead' for $15 minimum wage campaign, despite attorney general's opinionCLEVELAND, Ohio – The group pushing for a $15-an-hour minimum wage in Cleveland says it is moving "full speed ahead" with its campaign, despite an opinion from Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine that cities cannot legally set their own minimum wage. Raise Up Cleveland, a newly formed local group backed by the Service Employees International Union, issued a news release Thursday evening calling DeWine's opinion misleading and "only an opinion." "Attorney General Mike DeWine's personal opinion is not legally binding and should not be used as a distraction to the fact that Cleveland residents want and will vote for the increase in minimum wage," the release states. "We, the Cleveland voters, believe that we have the right to decide the minimum wage for our community. Although Attorney General Mike DeWine is entitled to his personal opinion, ultimately we the Cleveland voters will be the deciding voice in making sure that working families have a living wage."
