The Montana Republic Party’s fundraising this election year has failed to keep pace with Democratic rivals with little hope of catching up. The Montana Democratic Party received $359,000 in donations last month, according to a campaign finance report published Thursday. That’s more than the Montana Republican Party has received in the last year and a half. The state GOP’s latest report shows receipts of $55,910 in August, which brings its total 2016 election haul to $344,460. That is less than 20 percent of the Montana Democrats’ $1.77 million in contributions during the 2016 cycle. “Small businesses no longer feel the regime in the Montana Republican headquarters represents them,” state Rep.
