An explosion at a sewage screening facility in Quincy has left five people with minor injuries, according to officials. The fire occurred at the Nut Island Headworks, part of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, according to MWRA spokesperson Ria Convery. The five people injured were all MWRA maintenance workers who suffered smoke-related injuries. They were taken to Boston Medical Center, Convery said. The cause of the fire and extent of the damage to the facility are currently unknown, she said. Nearby residents should not experience disruptions, she said.
