Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., said Thursday she more than likely won’t be considered for a cabinet post in Republican President-elect Donald Trump’s administration. Heitkamp, during an interview on her brother Joel Heitkamp’s radio show on KFGO in Fargo, admitted speculation on her possibly being tapped to work with Trump isn’t likely to come to fruition. “I’m not saying ‘never, never,’ but I will tell you that … I’m very, very honored to serve the people of North Dakota," Heitkamp said. Speculation of the possibility of Heitkamp joining Trump was fueled by an early December meeting in Trump Tower in New York City. She’s previously said the meeting was productive and centered primarily on issues such as energy production and the Dakota Access Pipeline.
