HOUSTON - A Harris County grand jury probe into Planned Parenthood of the Gulf Coast ended Monday with the indictments of two anti-abortion activists. David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt were both indicted for tampering with a governmental record. An additional indictment for prohibition of the purchase and sale of human organs was issued for Daleiden, according to a release from the Harris County District Attorneys Office. "We were called upon to investigate allegations of criminal conduct by Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast," said Harris County District Attorney Devon Anderson. "As I stated at the outset of this investigation, we must go where the evidence leads us. All the evidence uncovered in the course of this investigation was presented to the grand jury. I respect their decision on this difficult case." Daleiden and Merritt were involved in undercover videos that surfaced last year appearing to show a Planned Parenthood official discussing reimbursement fees associated with fetal tissue procurement and donation. What is the Center for Medical Progress that was involved in the making of the doctored videos? Here is an article on that: www.seattlepi.com/news/texas/article/A-look-at-the-group-that-made-Planned-Parenthood-6783814.phpThese are people who believe they are doing God's work in fighting abortion, because the Bible says that abortion is murder. Does it? Is the Bible authority for the conclusion that a fetus is a baby? It is not. Or more correctly the only passage of the Jewish scriptures dealing directly with the ending of the life of the fetus does not support that view. See Exodus 21:22 in a non-evangelical mainstream translation such as the Revised Standard Version or New Revised Standard Version or New English Bible. The popular NIV btw is an evangelical translation; many you find online are, but they don't tell you. You have to look at select verses, such as Isaiah 7:14 and Exodus 21:22 to check the doctrinal basis of the translation. "Non-evangelical" because evangelical translations take the position that the event being discussed at Exodus 21:22 is not a miscarriage but a live birth -- illogical, since in the era when that was written, 2500+ years ago, what were the odds of surviving a premature birth caused by physically jostling the mother? Surely the more common case in that era would be miscarriage or failure to long survive, not live birth. And if it were a live premature birth, and the infant survived, why bother to dedicate a paragraph to that occurrence, but not to miscarriage? Exodus 21:22 stands for the biblical principle that the unborn fetus is a property right of the father, and if the pregnancy is terminated by the negligent act of an outsider, a fine is due to be paid to the father for loss of the fetus. That punishment is not the same as the punishment when a child or adult is accidentally killed. It is similar to the fine to be paid when one's sheep or donkey is accidentally killed.
